Nothing better than a drive in the mountains, with empty roads, on a sunny day.

It took me 91 minutes to go 16 miles tonight in San Francisco.

Going for a mid-morning mid-week drive in the mountains is surreal. Roads that are normally covered in touristy people meandering about and bicycles around every blind corner on the weekend, are just deserted. Even better when the road has some tunnels on it so that you can test out the exhaust lol.

It’s great! I will normally go late at night to avoid bicyclists, but it’s nice to get out and see everything during the day. I only saw maybe 6 cyclists and 4 cars that day.

The connecting road has a couple of tunnels, which I most definitely use. Just don’t end up like the guy on the front page!

I am always sketched out about night time canyon driving. I feel like I am going to hit a mountain lion or something lol. Being able to see certainly helps make driving feel a little safer.

Yeah, there are definitely pros and cons to driving at night. No doubt an animal or fallen rock can come up on you pretty quickly. The way I see it, I would much rather hit the rock or animal than a cyclist or another car. Not that I’m lane splittimg, I’ve just seen some silly people be in oncoming lanes for no reason.

Being in the oncoming lane for no reason. I do not need anymore flashbacks of that, that is for sure... Maybe I would be best off in the dead of night. Then I wont get ran off the road again.
